Who is responsible
Paul Kok is responsible for the data processing described here. Contact [email protected] for privacy questions or requests. We may need to verify that a request relates to your account or information before acting on it.
This policy covers the Tiko’s Quest iPhone and iPad app. The website privacy notice covers this portfolio.
Game progress on your device
The game saves completed rooms, best times and move counts, hearts, reward timing, settings, and a purchase-delivery record on your device. These records let you resume play and prevent a verified purchase from being delivered twice.
The current game does not require an account and does not provide its own cloud save or developer-run gameplay analytics. Your device and Apple backup settings can affect whether local app data is included in a device backup.
Purchases through Apple
Optional heart refills use Apple’s in-app purchase system. Apple processes the payment; the game receives transaction information needed to verify and deliver the refill. Paul Kok does not receive your full payment card details.
Transaction identifiers and delivery state are saved locally. Apple keeps purchase information under its own privacy policy.
Optional rewarded videos
Tiko’s Quest uses Google AdMob for optional videos that reward you with a heart. You choose whether to request a video. You can play the game without allowing tracking or watching ads.
Google’s SDK may process your IP address and approximate location inferred from it, device or app identifiers, ad views and interactions, and crash, performance, and other diagnostic information. These data support advertising, measurement, fraud prevention, and service reliability. What is processed depends on your permissions, consent, and settings.
See Google’s SDK data disclosure and Google’s privacy policy for more information.
Apple permission & Google consent
Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission and Google’s consent form are separate choices. Apple’s permission controls whether the app may track you across other companies’ apps and websites, including access to your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA). Google’s form asks about data use by Google and its advertising partners under the privacy rules that apply to you.
Accepting Google’s consent form does not turn on Apple tracking permission or override the game’s “Personalised ads” setting. Personalised ads are only eligible when Apple tracking is allowed, the game’s personalisation setting is on, and the necessary Google consent allows them. If Apple tracking is off or the game’s setting is off, the app requests non-personalised ads.
Allowing Apple tracking does not itself give Google consent. Google’s consent choices still apply. The consent service contacts Google to check which message is required and load the form; that connection can include information such as your IP address before you choose an answer.
Why a consent form can still appear
Google’s consent form may appear even when Apple tracking is off. Non-personalised ads are not selected using your past behaviour across apps and websites, but they may use context such as your approximate location. They can still involve data processing and device storage for purposes such as limiting repeat ads, reporting, and preventing fraud. Consent may still be required for those uses.
If you accept Google’s form while Apple tracking or the game’s personalisation setting is off, those settings remain off and the app continues to request non-personalised ads. Google’s ad requests do not include the IDFA when Apple tracking permission is denied. Non-personalised does not mean that no data is sent to Google.
If you decline Google consent, the app respects that choice. Depending on the permissions available, Google may provide limited ads or no ad. A rewarded video is not guaranteed. See Google’s explanation of personalised and non-personalised ads.
Manage your ad privacy choices
- Apple tracking: open your device’s Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and change the permission for Tiko’s Quest. The game cannot change Apple’s permission for you.
- Personalised ads: open the game’s Settings and turn “Personalised ads” off to request non-personalised ads. When Apple tracking is off, personalisation is disabled in the game.
- Google consent: use “Ad privacy choices” in the game’s Settings, where available, to review or withdraw your Google consent.
- Optional videos: you can choose not to request rewarded videos and continue playing.
Changing a permission does not erase data already processed. For access or deletion requests, see Your rights & choices below and the relevant provider’s privacy policy.
When you contact support
If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond to your request and investigate the issue. Avoid including personal information that is not needed.
Storage, retention & sharing
Local game data stays in the app’s storage until it is removed. Deleting the app removes its local save; offloading the app can retain app data. Deletion does not remove Apple purchase history, third-party records, or copies in backups. The game has no cloud recovery service, so removing local data can permanently remove progress and unused hearts.
Support correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle the request and any related obligations, then removed when no longer needed. Apple and Google retain their own records under their policies. Email and hosting providers process information needed to deliver their services; providers may process data outside your country.
Your rights & choices
Depending on applicable law, you may request access to your personal data, correction, deletion, restriction, or a portable copy, and object to certain processing. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw that consent. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Email [email protected] with your request. Please do not include passwords, payment card details, or connection keys.
Where applicable, processing needed to supply purchases or answer support requests is based on providing the service; optional processing that requires consent relies on your consent. Service security and troubleshooting may rely on legitimate interests, subject to your rights.
Changes to this policy
Changes to the app’s data practices will be reflected on this page with a revised date. For questions about a particular app version, contact Paul Kok using the address above.
